The Bridge

The official publication of the PVA, The Bridge, serves to communicate local news and information and to record new and old history of Pawtuxet Village and its residents.

We publish The Bridge two times a year — spring/summer and winter/holiday issues — and distribute it to all the advertiser locations, public libraries, Warwick and Cranston city halls, and by subscription.

The Bridge is run by a volunteer editorial board that manages the publication (content, photography, and distribution) under the direction of the PVA Board of Directors. The content of the paper is exclusively about Village life. Our profiles of historic homes and history, environmental treasures, local businesses, and residents will amuse you and keep you informed of Village events and issues. We welcome new writers, photographers, and advertisers.

Subscription to The Bridge:

For those who wish to have each issue mailed to you, please send a check made out to the Pawtuxet Village Association for $10, include your full mailing address, phone number and email. Send to: PVA, PO Box 8626, Pilgrim Station, Warwick, RI, 02888. We will send the spring and fall issues by regular mail.

Contributor Guidelines

Advertising:

We accept ads in two sizes:

• Small Ad: 3.5” wide x 2” high (horizontal) -- $50

• Large Ad: 3.5” wide x 4” high (vertical) -- $75

Ads must be provided as print-ready electronic files in black and white or grayscale. Ads must be high resolution (JPG or TIFF at 300 dpi or an Adobe Illustrator EPS file with fonts converted to outlines.) All advertising is in black and white. Content Guidelines for Articles

Topics should be relevant to the Pawtuxet Village community in particular although we will accept articles that are related to the Edgewood area based on the context. 

Material is meant to be an accurate recording of history, a current event, or significant topic about the people, places, and community. No editorials, political statements, or obituaries will be accepted.  

We accept articles in a Word document format with author's byline and small headshot, accompanied by photos if applicable. 

• 1/2 page are usually 500 words, 1-2 photos

• Full page are 800-1000 words, 2-3 photos

• Longer articles are considered and run about 1200-1500 words with multiple photos

Please contact the editor at pawtuxetvillageassociation@gmail.com in advance of submitting a story and provide a description of the story topic and your reason for submitting along with a phone number. The editor will respond usually in 24 hours to discuss the topic with you.
